NBC has decided not to move forward with the Murder, She Wrote reboot staring Octavia Spencer, Deadline reports.
However, the network plans on trying to find a different way to reimagine the amateur sleuth series, according to the report.
When the pilot was first announced in October, it was described as a "light, contemporary procedural in the vein of Bones or Fargo." Spencer would play a hospital administrator and amateur detective whose fascination with true crime inspires her to help in criminal investigations.
At least one person is happy NBC's pilot isn't moving forward. Talk of the project prompted Angela Lansbury, who starred in the original, to call the reboot a "mistake." Though she added she has no hard feelings towards Spencer.
What do you think of NBC's choice?
