The pop star with the overactive tongue will be the subject of a two-hour NBC special on Sunday, July 6 at 9/8c.Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour will feature behind-the-scenes and on-stage footage of Cyrus' concerts from Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, Spain, and MEO Arena in Lisbon, Protugal.
"There are few recording artists with the global success achieved by Miley Cyrus," Paul Telegdy, NBC's boss of alternative and late night programming, said in a statement. "This unique special will offer an exclusive peek on how she engages with her crew and fans at one of her hugely popular concerts."
Cyrus, daughter of "Achy Breaky Heart" singer Billy Ray Cyrus, grew to fame as the lead character in Disney Channel's extremely popular Hannah Montana series. But Cyrus has shed her Disneyfied image with a successful reinvention, chopping off her locks into a punk-rock 'do and engaging in suggestive behavior. It's worked for her. Her most recent album, Bangerz, is certified platinum and spawned the No. 1 hit "Wrecking Ball."
