NBC Orders The Firm to Series

NBC has picked up the TV adaptation of John Grisham's best-selling novel The Firm for a straight-to-series order of 22 episodes, Deadline reports.
The show is being readied for a September premiere, though NBC may not officially slot it into its fall schedule until casting is completed, according to the site.

Lukas Reiter (The Forgotten, Law & Order) wrote the pilot. Grisham will serve as an executive producer, with eOne Television and Sony as the production companies. eOne is also selling the show internationally to be broadcast on Sony's AXN networks in 125 territories.The series picks up 10 years after the events of the 1993 feature, which starred Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman.

NBC picks up four comedies, renews Chuck

The order brings the total of NBC's pick-ups to 12. The network has already ordered Up All Night, starring Christina Applegate and written by Parks & Recreationwriter Emily Spivey, as well as comedies from Whitney Cummings, Chelsea Handler, Hank Azaria and Amanda Peet, and Lennon Parham (Accidentally on Purpose) and Jessica St. Clair (Worst Week). On the drama side, NBC invested in Steven Spielberg's Smash; Prime Suspect, starring Maria Bello; The Playboy Club; Grimmand Awake.
