The Oscar winner will be repping the Notorious RBG
Natalie Portman is going to be repping the Notorious RBG!
The actress is set to play Supreme Court Justice (and meme star) Ruth Bader Ginsburg in an upcoming film called On The Basis of Sex, Deadline reported Friday.
Fall TV Preview: New shows coming in 2015-2016
The script "follows the travails of Ginsburg as she faced numerous obstacles to her fight for equal rights throughout her career." The title is also the name of a 2002 TV movie about the Supreme Court battle over Title IX.
This will be the second big directing project for Marielle Heller, who did Diary of a Teenage Girl.
Ginsburg became the second female Supreme Court Justice when she was appointed to the position in 1993 by President Bill Clinton. Before that, she was the first tenured female law professor at Columbia University, and co-founded the Women's Rights Project at the American Civil Liberties Union before serving as their general counsel. In 1960, as a recent Harvard Law grad, she was denied a clerkship with then-Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter because she was a woman.
Throughout her career, she has been an advocate for women's rights -- a passion shared by the Oscar winner.
Who do you think should play Antonin Scalia? (For the record, we plugged his photo into Face++ and it suggested Nicolas Cage.)
