Nashville Renewed for Season 5 at CMT and Hulu

The rumors are true, y'all: Nashvillehas been renewed for a fifth season in partnership with Hulu and CMT.

Under the deal, new episodes will air on CMT, while Hulu will retain streaming rights for the country music drama, which was canceled by ABC last month. (Episodes will be available on Hulu the day after they air on CMT.)

"CMT heard the fans. The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for Nashville has been overwhelming," CMT President Brian Philips said in a statement. "Nashville is a perfect addition to our evolving lineup of big music specials, documentaries and original series. We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we will treasure it like no other network. Nashville belongs on CMT."

It's unclear how many episodes Season 5 will consist of, or when it will premiere and air on CMT. Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick are set to take over as showrunners from Dee Johnson.

After Nashville's cancellation, the show's production company, Lionsgate, said it was committed to finding a new home for the show. In the Season 4 finale, the fate of main character Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) was left up in the air as a plane she was traveling on disappeared while en route to the titular city.
