Empire, Creed Lead NAACP Image Awards Nominations

The awards celebrate people of color in the arts

Empire leads the TV nominees for the NAACP's Image Awards, which celebrate achievements by people of color in the arts.

Empire earned 12 nominations, including acting nominations for Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Bryshere Y. Gray, Jussie Smollett and Grace Gealey. Black-ish came in second, with 10 nomintations.

Besides Empire, the other nominees in the outstanding drama category are Being Mary Jane, How to Get Away with Murder, Power, and Scandal.
Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Rami Malek Lead SAG Nominations

Comedy nominees are Black-ish, House of Lies, Key & Peele, Orange Is the New Black, and Survivor's Remorse.

Creed topped the film nominations, with six. The other nominees for best picture are Beasts of No Nation, Concussion, Dope, and Straight Outta Compton.

Creed star Michael B. Jordan is also nominated for entertainer of the year, alongside Misty Copeland, Pharrell Williams, Shonda Rhimes and Viola Davis.
