NAACP Image Awards: House of Payne, Grey's and Jennifer Hudson among Leading Nominees

Tyler Perry and Halle Berry have their work cut out for them.

As the hosts of this year's NAACP Image Awards, the pair will help honor the best of television, movies, music and literature from a comprehensive nominations roster, announced Wednesday. Tyler Perry's House of Payneleads the TV series in contention with six nominations, followed by Ugly Bettywith five, Grey's Anatomyand Everybody Hates Chris, which both scored four nods.

Joining Payne, Betty and Chris in the TV comedy category are 30 Rockand The Game. Nominated TV dramas in addition to Grey's include House, Lincoln Heights, The Wire and The Unit.

Of the acting categories, Chandra Wilson (Grey's), CCH Pounder (The Shield), Loretta Divine (Eli Stone), Nicki Micheaux (Lincoln Heights) and Wendy Davis (Army Wives) are going head-to-head for best actress in a drama.

Contenders for male actors in a drama include Anthony Anderson (Law & Order), Blair Underwood (In Treatment), Dennis Haysbert (The Unit), Hill Harper (CSI: NY) and Omar Epps (House).

Movies in contention for awards include Cadillac Records, Miracle at St. Anna, The Secret Life of Bees, Seven Pounds and Tyler Perry's the Family that Preys.

On the recording roster, Jennifer Hudson leads the pack with seven nominations for categories including best new artist and outstanding female artist, as well as nods for best song, video, album, collaboration and supporting actress in a film (The Secret Life of Bees).

This year is the 40th anniversary of the award show and will feature not only a stellar lineup of nominees, but also the appearance of former Vice President Al Gore and Dr. Wangari Maathai, who will both receive the Chairman's Award. The Image Awards are set to air Feb. 12 (8 pm/ET, Fox). A full list of this year's nominees is available here.
