California's Alyssa Campanella Crowned Miss USA

Alyssa Campanella of California is the newly crowned Miss USA, beating out her "best friend," Ashley Elizabeth Durham of Tennessee. Campanella calls herself as "a huge history geek," explaining: "I'm obsessed with the Stuart and Tudor era. .... Whenever I go to Barnes & Noble, I'm always in the history section and that is where you will find me." She also said she likes to watch The Tudors as well as Game of Thrones and Camelot.

Sunday night's pageant in Las Vegas was hosted by Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic.

Rocco Dispirito, Real Housewives of New Jersey's Caroline Manzo, comedian-magician Penn Jillette, rapper and Celebrity Apprenticecontestant Lil Jon, Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler, actress-writer Mariel Hemingway and Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, the co-founder of OPI products, served as judges on the NBC telecast.

Campanella, 21, will represent the United States at the Miss Universe pageant in Brazil come September.
