News: Barton skips movie premiere because of medical issue

"Ms. Barton was safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor," the actress' publicist told TVGuide.com on Friday.

Barton's rep, however, would not comment on a report by Access Hollywood that she had been placed under a 72-hour involuntary psychiatric hold.

Barton is scheduled to report for work on the new CW series The Beautiful Life: TBL on Wednesday, July 22. Barton's rep told the Los Angeles Times that her participation in the show "will ultimately be contingent upon her progress and doctor's orders."

A spokesperson for the CW told TVGuide.com that the production start date remains unchanged, and the show is slated to premiere as planned on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Barton can be seen in the indie horror flick Homecoming, in theaters now and also starring 90210's Jessica Stroup (see related Q&A).
