While we're obviously all still crushed at the news Netflix has canceled One Day at a Time, there may be an alternative for you to binge in the future.

The streaming service has handed out a straight-to-series order for a half-hour, coming-of-age comedy series from Mindy Kaling. It is inspired by the actress/writer/producer's real-life experience as a first-generation Indian American teenager. The series has no title yet, but the first season will consist of 10 episodes. Kaling will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner along with Lang Fisher.

While there's no word on whether Kaling will have an on-screen role in the series yet, her appearances on her previous projects, including The Mindy Project and Champions, seem to suggest that she'll probably appear in some capacity, if only briefly.

There is no cast information or premiere date attached to the project yet, so while we can hope this new series will fill the hole left in our hearts by One Day at a Time's cancellation, it may be quite a while before Kaling's new series shows up in your queue.
