As part of the White House's Joining Forces initiative, First Lady Michelle Obama will appear next month on Disney Channel's tween sitcom Jessieto help raise awareness of the special sacrifices and needs of military families.

Jessie stars Debby Ryan as a New York nanny who grew up as a military brat. In the episode "From the White House to Our House," Jessie and one of her young charges, Zuri (Skai Jackson) throw a birthday party for their new friend Taylor, a young girl whose mother is deployed overseas with the military. Zuri finds a way to enlist Mrs. Obama when Taylor hesitates to celebrate without her mother.

Mrs. Obama also taped a public service announcement that will run with the episode, which airs Friday, May 16 at 8/7c.

Joining Forces was launched by Mrs. Obama and Jill Biden in 2011 to assist servicemen and women, veterans and military spouses.

The First Lady is also set to play herself on the April 24 season finale of Parks and Recreation, as well as May 7 episode of ABC's Nashville, as the show's characters organize a charity concert at Ft. Campbell.

Here's a first look at Mrs. Obama's Jessie appearance, which was filmed in January.
