The Mentalist Promotes Joe Adler to Series Regular

Joe Adler has been promoted to series regular on The Mentalist, Deadline.com reports.

Adler joined the series in Season 6 as Jason Wylie, an FBI agent who specializes in computers. He recurred throughout most of the season after the Red John storyline wrapped in November.

The promotion of Adler, who previously recurred on Shameless, follows the departure of two of The Mentalist's longtime cast members, Owain Yeoman and Amanda Righetti, who both left in March.

CBS renewed The Mentalist last month for its seventh season, which will premiere sometime midseason.
