According to a new report from FiveThirtyEight, men hate those TV shows most loved by women.
The report uses the ratings on the film database IMDb (admittedly not a complete measure), which are dominated by male reviewers. HBO ladies-who-lust series Sex and the City, for example, averages 7.0 overall, but shoots up to 8.1 when you remove the male reviewers.
FiveThirtyEight goes further, suggesting that men are manipulating the IMDb system by intentionally assigning lower scores to certain titles, so that their favorites might rise in the rankings. This is, after all, the site that declares The Shawshank Redemption to be the greatest film... of all time.
But we'd like to think that TV is much less gender-divided that this report would indicate. Everyone loves Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Friends, right?
What do you think? Can men and women like the same TV shows? Give us your examples below.
