It would be a royal surprise if she returned
If you were holding out hope that Meghan Markle might take off those fancy fascinators long enough to make a quick goodbye cameo as Rachel Zane in Suits' ninth and final season, well, we've got bad news. Though the Duchess of Sussex is still wholly invested in the performing arts -- she was even recently passed the patronage of the National Theatre by Queen Elizabeth II herself -- she's not likely to return to her old show.
While showrunner Aaron Korsh was promoting the new Suits spin-off Pearsonat TCA on Thursday, Deadline reports that he confirmed what many royal spectators already knew: the chances of her returning to the show are "pretty close to zero."

Korsh reportedly did say he would "love it" if the Duchess of Sussex somehow returned to the series, but he explained that the show is also "not currently pursuing asking Meghan to leave her position with the royal family and join us."
He added, "We love her, we wish her well but I don't think that's happening."

Markle starred as paralegal Rachel Zane throughout the show's first seven seasons but announced her decision to depart the series after her engagement to Britain's Prince Harry. Her arc on the legal drama ended in the Season 7 finale, when Rachel finally married Mike (Patrick J. Adams), and the two headed off to Seattle to pursue a dream opportunity.
Suits airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on USA Network.
