When we last saw the Lyon family, Lucious (Terrence Howard) had been voted out of his company in a coup orchestrated by Mimi Whiteman (Marisa Tomei) and poor pregnant Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) was left lying on the floor after a mysterious stranger shoved her down the stairs. Where does Empire go from there?
Sadly, the mystery of Who Shoved Rhonda won't be solved anytime soon — but the aftereffects of the assault bring about a big change to the Lyon family dynamic. Also shaking things up is Camilla (Naomi Campbell), who sashays back into Empire... and Hakeem's (Bryshere Grey) love life. Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), as you can imagine, is not having it.
Also not playing: Lucious, who unsurprisingly declares war on his youngest son Hakeem. What is surprising? The fact that he teams up with Cookie to wrest back control of the company. (To be fair, though, everyone knows the Empire is stronger when Mama and Papa Lyon work together.) Battle lines and guns are drawn - and by the end of Episode 2, two people appear to be dead. Who do you think? Any guesses?
Empire returns Wednesday, March 30 at 9/8c on Fox.
