We'll miss you Coach!
It's the end of an era on the New Girl season finale, when Damon Wayans, Jr., who plays Coach, bids adieu to all of his friends. Unfortunately, one of the gang will be conspicuously absent: Cece (Hannah Simone).
No, Cece isn't holding a grudge, but she has already left town. In the penultimate episode airing Tuesday (9/8c, Fox), we'll see that she's channeling Reese Witherspoon's Oscar-nominated role in Wild. "She's ready to let Schmidt have his life with Fawn and she's got to move forward in a way that is no longer in the picture," executive producer Brett Baer says. Adds executive producer Dave Finkel adds, "She's going to try to reclaim her life ... by doing a Wild-esque trek through Mount Shasta. [Therefore], she is definitely off and unreachable in the finale. She's up on a mountain and very, very alone."
As for Schmidt, he's dealing with the fallout from Fawn accidentally exposing herself at the charity golf tournament. "The ... episode is [titled] 'Panty Gate,' so she's got her hands full," Baer says. "She has a political crisis that she needs to deal with. Schmidt will be right there at the center of it. The way that they as a couple deal with this crisis dictates where the relationship goes from there." Finkel adds: "She's sort of our Anthony Weiner."
Perhaps Fawn should consider the alias "Carlotta Danger"?
