Criminal Minds will have babies on the brain on its Season 10 finale Wednesday.
Not only is Kate (Jennifer Love Hewitt) pregnant, of course, and desperately searching for her kidnapped niece/adopted daughter Meg (Hailey Sole), but as we previously reported, JJ (A.J. Cook) will announce that she's expecting her second child. As with Cook's first real-life pregnancy, the show chose to write in her second one, especially given JJ's miscarriage revelation in the 200th episode last year.
"It was a surprise that A.J. got pregnant - what a wonderful, happy surprise - so to also onscreen be able to give that to JJ after learning what she went through is great," executive producer Erica Messer tells TVGuide.com. "[JJ and Will] have been trying again, but you'll see it's somewhat of a surprise for them as well, and what's also great is next season we'll be able to explore how [the miscarriage] affects her as she's carrying this baby."
Clues to JJ's pregnancy will be sprinkled throughout Wednesday's finale (9/8c, CBS), when JJ proves to be just as dogged as Kate to find Meg. "She's very determined and you think it's her commiserating as a fellow mother, but by the end of the finale you know that she's having another baby," Messer says. "There'll be a nice little moment.
