Matt's Picks: December 20-23

Million Dollar Money Drop (Monday, 8/7c, Fox)This is how game-show sensations are born — and Fox certainly hopes this will be their version of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. Airing Monday-Thursday this week (Tuesday and Wednesday's installments air at 9/8c, with a two-hour finale on Thursday), this game, hosted by comedian Kevin Pollak, is pretty simple. Contestants are asked multiple-choice questions with a million dollars in cash on the line. They put the cash on the answers they think are correct — one must always be left blank — and if they're wrong, the cash they've distributed on the wrong answer disappears down a chute. Panic sets in pretty quickly. The two-hour premiere goes head-to-head with the finale of NBC's holiday hit The Sing-Off. Men of a Certain Age (Monday, 10/9c, TNT)Yes, Virginia, there are some new episodes of non-reality series airing this week. You just have to know where to look for them. On Men...

This is how game-show sensations are born — and Fox certainly hopes this will be their version of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. Men of a Certain Age(Monday, 10/9c, TNT)
Yes, Virginia, there are some new episodes of non-reality series airing this week. You just have to know where to look for them. On Men, the divorced Joe (Ray Romano) experiences an embarrassment of riches as he finds himself dating two women simultaneously and wonders how long this juggling act can continue. Meanwhile, Terry places a bet with another car salesman to see who can unload the most cars, and Owen confronts his father yet again about who's the boss at the dealership. This episode is preceded by the first part of a two-part season finale of The Closer, in which a messy and deadly family feud threatens to interrupt the unit's holiday celebrations while Brenda is distracted by the arrival of her mom and dad, who may be staying around longer than usual.

Human Target(Wednesday, 8/7c, Fox)
It's beginning to look a lot like suburbia when Chance and his team spend the holidays going undercover in conformity hell. Protecting an ordinary family from a mysterious murder threat, Chance and Guerrero end up in a corporate office, while grouchy Winston participates in a neighborhood book club and Ames finds herself chaperoning a high-school party. Will they find the grinch lurking in their midst before someone is killed?

Doctor Who Christmas Special(Saturday, 9/8c, BBC America)
Who better to welcome into your home on Christmas night, once the festivities have calmed down, than the good Doctor (the delightful new incarnation embodied by Matt Smith). In a new Dickens-inspired episode titled "A Christmas Carol" from exec producer Steven Moffat, this homage to Christmas movies — with touches of Who-vian fantasy whimsy — features newlyweds Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill), joined by special guests Michael Gambon (of Harry Potter fame) and opera diva Katherine Jenkins.
