IF GOD IS WILLING AND DA CREEK DON'T RISE(Monday-Tuesday, 9/8c, HBO)
Returning to the scene of his monumental Emmy-winning documentary When the Levees Broke, Spike Lee revisits New Orleans five years after the calamity of Hurricane Katrina. It begins on a joyous note with the Saints' Super Bowl win, but turns somber as more environmental tragedy strikes with the BP oil spill. We feel helpless all over again as we watch.
Also of note: Witness Katrina (Monday, 9/8c, National Geographic Channel), a two-hour you-are-there documentary that assembles graphic video from many sources, much of it amateur, into a gripping narrative of the storm and its shattering aftermath.

COVERT AFFAIRS(Tuesday, 10/9c, USA Network)
This enjoyable spy caper's not-so-secret weapon is Christopher Gorham, who brings an effortless charm to the can-you-believe role of blind CIA techie Auggie. In this breakout episode, Auggie is thrilled to go back out in the field when a hacker shuts down all communications in the D.C. area. The bad news: His ex-girlfriend is the hacker responsible for the mess.
MASTERCHEF(Wednesday, 8/7c, Fox)
After surviving a cupcake challenge, the boot camp for aspiring amateurs welcomes a hot tamale of a guest chef: Iron Chef America's Cat Cora, who leads the remaining contestants on a team challenge to cook for truckers at a truck stop. The losers must then survive the "pressure test" of naming ingredients from a table of goodies found in a farmers' market.
BURN NOTICE(Thursday, 10/9c, USA Network)
As the show's summer season comes to a close — Burn returns to the schedule with new episodes in November — Michael is juggling multiple crises, including a kidnapping and a looming terrorist threat. But the big news, according to USA: "A startling revelation forces Jesse to reconsider where he stands." Look out, Michael.
