There's nothing like a prostate exam to get your morning off to a good start.

As part of the Today show's focus on men's health for the month of November,Matt Lauer and Al Roker got prostate exams live on the air Thursday morning.

The exams were administered by Lauer's actual urologist at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, and were timed to demonstrate to viewers how little time the potentially life-saving procedure takes. Lauer was in and out in 34 seconds.

"The best 34 seconds of your life? Probably not," he quipped afterwards.

Roker went in afterwards, with the doctor joking that he'd use two fingers to get a second opinion. "It's not comfortable," admitted Roker, whose exam took slightly longer than Lauer's.

(Though their official results weren't available until later in the morning, the doctor said Lauer's prostate felt normal, while Roker's felt slightly enlarged.)

Back in the studio, Savannah Guthrie and co. were joined by Kathie Lee Giffordand Hoda Kotb. The fourth-hour co-hosts took a break from getting their hair and makeup done, and sat at the desk with popcorn to watch "the prostate movie."

Guthrie applauded Lauer and Roker's undertaking after the exams, but added: "We could have done without the finger humor."
