James Callis is trading spaceships for spies. The Battlestar Galactica actor has joined the cast of El Rey's Matador, reports Deadline.com.

The series, from Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Sleepy Hollow), chronicles the life of Tony Bravo (Gabriel Luna), a CIA agent recruited to go undercover as a rising soccer star for the fictional LA Riot, owned by corrupt billionaire Andres Galan (Alfred Molina).

Summer TV: Must-watch new shows

Callis, whose recent credits include Eureka and CSI, will play Lucien Sayer, a mysterious man with power and influence over a fraternity of elite businessmen and politicians from all over the world.

Matador premieres July 15 at 9/8c on El Rey Network.
