Fox and Marvel have put a new X-Men series into development with Burn Notice creator Matt Nix set to write. The new series will "focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive."The show appears to be in good hands, too. In addition to Nix, Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb, X-Men film series director and writer Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg will also executive produce the series. It currently remains unknown if the new series will exist in continuity with the X-Men feature film franchise.FX orders X-Men drama Legion, starring Dan Stevens and Aubrey Plaza. The unnamed project has a good shot at making it to series, as it's received a put pilot commitment from Fox, meaning Fox will have to pay a fair chunk of money if the show isn't aired. But as one show comes in, another will leave. According to Variety, the previously in-development Marvel series Hellfire is no longer moving forward at Fox.If Fox does give the untitled show a greenlight, it would mean Fox would have series from both the Marvel and DC Comics universes at the same time, the latter of which is represented by Gotham. The new project marks the second X-Men series to be in active development on television following the announcement of Legion on Fox sister network FX from Fargo creator Noah Hawley.
