She certainly shocked the audience
For ABC's live-taping of Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear's All in the Family and The Jeffersons, current actors and actresses took on the iconic roles from the two of Lear's most beloved shows. During the closing moments of the television event, one very familiar face made an appearance as her original character: Marla Gibbs once again playing Florence Johnston.
Justina Machado (from the still sadly very canceled One Day At A Time) was originally announced to be playing the role of Florence, and while it's a shame we didn't get to see her take on the role, having Gibbs reprise the role is completely next level.
Those in the studio audience were certainly shocked to see the actress arrive on screen, and those at home watching took to twitter to share their excitement. She even said one of her most memorable lines, "How come we overcame and nobody told me?"
Awwww they actually got Marla Gibbs to reprise her role as Florence!! 👏🏽 👏🏽 #TheJeffersons #AllInTheFamily pic.twitter.com/mxOtvSGidz

The two episodes the live-taping recreated were Season 4 Episode 6 of All in the Family with "Henry's Farewell," and then the pilot of The Jeffersons.
