The pop legend wrote and performed new single 'In the Mix' for the sitcom
Mariah Carey will be bringing her magic to Rainbow's realm this fall.
The pop/R&B legend has written and performed a brand new single, "In the Mix," to serve as the theme song to ABC'smixed-ish. The sitcom, a new spin-off of black-ish, flashes back to a young Bow (portrayed by Arica Himmel in the spin-off and Tracee Ellis Ross in the original) growing up in a mixed-race family in the '80s.
In a statement, Carey said, "As a fan of Kenya Barris' megahit shows, black-ish and grown-ish, I was inspired to connect with Kenya to find a way we could work together. As a biracial woman in the entertainment industry, there was no way I did not want to be part of mixed-ish, especially after seeing the pilot, which I loved. I could not be more honored and proud to be writing and performing 'In the Mix' for Kenya and the show."
Here's When Grey's Anatomy, The Good Doctor, and More ABC Shows Premiere in the Fall
In addition to Arica Himmel as Bow, mixed-ish will also feature Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tika Sumpter as Bow's parents, Paul and Alicia, alongside Ethan William Childress and Mykal-Michelle Harris as her siblings Johan and Santamonica. Christina Anthony also stars as Alicia's sister Denise, and Gary Cole portrays Paul's father, Harrison.
Mariah Carey has previously contributed original music to several soundtracks, includingGlitter, All I Want for Christmas Is You, and The Star.
