Maria Menounos Joins Extra, Signs Deal with Telepictures

Maria Menounos is joining Extra as Mario Lopez's co-host and has signed a development deal with Telepictures, the production company behind the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Maria Menounos is joining Extra as Mario Lopez's co-host and has signed a development deal with Telepictures, the production company behind the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"We are thrilled to have Maria in the Telepictures family. She is a great talent with diverse experience and appeal and her versatility will enable her to contribute to our slate in myriad ways," companyPresident Hilary Estey McLoughlin said.

Menounos, 33, also will be featured on the Telepictures' new show Dr. Drew's Lifechangers, which will debut Tuesday, Sept. 13, on the CW. She begins her Extra gig the day before.

Menounos has been an on-air correspondent for Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, Today, Dateline and the NBC Nightly News withBrian Williams.

"I'm so excited to join Mario on Extra and be a part of Dr. Drew's Lifechangers. Joining Telepictures is a great next step in my career. I loved working at NBC and thank the network for a great six-year run," Menounos said.
