Things have been pretty terrible for Jared (J.R. Ramirez) on Manifest. His fiancé disappeared for five years and then returned... after he had married her best friend. And if you were hoping his luck would somehow turn around, you're in for major disappointment. Now that Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) has broken up with him in the wake of Lourdes (Victoria Cartagena) discovering their affair, he'll find himself struggling to let go of his ex-fiancé, and that will send him down a dark path.
"He becomes a bit possessive and he turns a little dark which was really fun to interpret and play," J.R. Ramirez told TV Guide. "Michaela's everything to him, obviously."
While he might not be ready to move on, Michaela has no intentions of getting back together just yet. "She is trying to step back from that to see how she can let other people live their life without disrupting them," Melissa Roxburgh said. "As much as she loves Jared, she doesn't wanna disrupt anyone else's life." Given that she considers him to be the love of her life, however, who knows how long that will stick.
Michaela's love life might be in shambles, but things are faring much better for her brother, Ben (Josh Dallas), who's on the road to reconciliation with his wife, Grace (Athena Karkanis). The pair broke things off when they realized they both wanted different things, especially Grace who just couldn't handle any more of Ben's secrets regarding the Calling. But now that she's been properly filled in, even joining in on uncovering the mind-boggling mystery, things seem to be on the up-and-up between them. Whether or not that means they'll make it work remains to be seen.
"As far as Ben and Grace go, it's a real examination of a relationship that's completely crumbled, and these two people are being thrust back together, and they still have a lot of love for each other, and they're just trying to find each other again," Josh Dallas explained. "I hope that their love for one another will be enough amongst all this chaos, so we'll see. They're trying their hardest."
For their sake, let's hope that it is.
