If you were anxious about who would be cast as the lead in the new Magnum P.I. reboot, don't worry -- it's handled.

Scandal alum Jay Hernandez has been tapped to play the titular character in this latest blast from the past. In the updated version, Thomas Magnum is a decorated ex-Navy SEAL fresh off a return from Afghanistan. Once back home, he decides to use his military expertise to build a new career as a private investigator.

Hernandez's other credits besides Scandal include Nashville, and The Expanse. The role of Thomas Magnum was originally played by Tom Selleck.

CBS went a little nostalgia-crazy this year, also ordering pilots for a Cagney and Lacey reboot and aMurphy Brown revival. The chances that all three '80s throwbacks gets picked up is slim, but if so, CBS is going to have one nostalgic 2018-2019 lineup.

(Full Disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS).
