Exclusive Mad Men Season 6 Trailer: "The Next Thing Will Be Better"

After releasing a trailer inviting viewers to "the 'affair' of the year" and a Season 6 poster rife with possible clues about Don Draper's dual identity crisis, AMC has released a new 30-second trailer — and we've got your exclusive first look.

Although the trailer doesn't feature any footage from the new season (did you really think it would?), it does depict many of the show's characters in various scenes of uneasy contemplation, as some of Don's most memorable lines from last season — "What is happiness? It's a moment before you need more happiness" — play in voiceover. And given the previous teases, one line in particular stands out: "The next thing will be better," Don says.Viewers will no doubt recall that Season 5 ended with Don (Jon Hamm) giving in to the acting desires of his new bride Megan (Jessica Paré) and helping her get a part in one of the agency's commercials. As Don literally and figuratively left Megan behind at the soundstage to seek solace in a whiskey glass, Don was approached by a woman at the bar who asked, "Are you alone?" (That moment also punctuates the new trailer.)

So could Don be looking for his next patch of happiness with another woman? Speaking recently about the new season, creator Matthew Weiner says that Don — and many of the characters — will be doing a lot of internal soul-searching. "I never want the show to repeat itself, but life does repeat itself," he says. "At a certain point, you come upon these events and you start saying... 'Here I am again. What has happened? How have I not grown?' [This season], the character is looking over their shoulder at themselves. That's a lot of what the show is about."So what does it all really mean?
