The upcoming Lizzie McGuire revival is a highly anticipated series for Disney Channel fans young and old, and the show just got a triple-shot of nostalgia. Say hello to the grown up McGuire family!
Disney+ announced on Thursday that original cast members Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas, who played Jo, Sam, and Matt McGuire, respectively, will be joining Hilary Duff as Lizzie for the continuation series soon to go into production. The cast congregated for the first time in 15 years for a read through, and the photo of their reunion will definitely take you back to the good ol' days!
"Just like there is no Lizzie McGuire without Hilary Duff, there is no McGuire family without Hallie, Robert, and Jake," said Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer at Disney Channels Worldwide, in a statement. "The original series holds a special place in the hearts of so many, and we can't wait to introduce fans, both old and new, to an older, wiser, yet still perfectly imperfect Lizzie."
The new series will pick up with a 30-year-old Lizzie living in New York City and struggling to find her way from young millennial to full-blown adult. So far, Lizzie's immediately family members are the only original characters to be announced as part of the revival, but we're still holding out hope that we'll see Gordo (Adam Lamberg), Miranda (Lalaine), Kate (Ashley Brillault), and Ethan (Clayton Snyder) somewhere along the way too.
The Lizzie McGurie revival does not have a premiere date yet, but Disney's new streaming platform, Disney+ launches on Nov. 12. Find out what else is coming to the new streaming service here.
