Don't expect to catch Lindsay Lohan's new film at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Canyons has been rejected by the Texas-based film festival over "quality issues." A festival insider told the magazine that the film, which was recently profiled in a lengthy New York Times piece on Lohan, has "an ugliness and a deadness to it."
The Canyons, directed by Paul Schrader and written by American Psycho scribe Bret Easton Ellis, is an erotic thriller starring Lohan opposite porn star James Deen. The film received significant media attention earlier this month when the Times ran a behind-the-scenes look of the making of the film that painted its starlet in a less-than-flattering light. Shortly after the article was published, TMZ also posted an audio file of Lohan cursing out Deen during rehearsal.
The Canyons was reportedly also rejected by the Sundance Film Festival, which is currently underway in Utah.
