Just when we thought the drama surrounding Lethal Weapon was over, they pull us right back in!
In a shocking interview with Electronic Urban Report, Damon Wayans, who plays Murtaugh, announced that he is officially handing in his notice! "I'm going to be quitting the show in December, after we finish the initial 13 [episodes]," Wayans said. "I really don't know what they're planning, but that's what I'm planning. I'm a 58-year-old diabetic, and I'm working 16 hour days... Like Murtaugh said, 'I'm too old for this [s---].'"
This news come hot on the heels of last week's Season 3 premiere, which launched the first season without Lethal Weapon's other main character, Riggs (Clayne Crawford). Crawford was ousted from the show after the wrap of it second season due to his reportedly volatile behavior and claims that he created a hostile work environment. Crawford refuted those claims, but his contract with the show was terminated nonetheless.
For a while, it seemed like Crawford's replacement, Seann William Scott, might be able to fill the void and keep the series afloat, but if Wayans really is bailing out of Lethal Weapon for good, then this show might as well just be canceled now. What's Lethal Weapon without Riggs or Murtaugh?
