Lena Dunham was taken to the hospital on Saturday after an ovarian cyst ruptured.

"Lena Dunham has been very public with her personal bouts with endometriosis. This morning, she suffered from an ovarian cyst rupture and has been taken to the hospital," Dunham's spokesperson Cindi Berger said in a statement toNBC News. Berger added that Dunham underwent surgery at the undisclosed hospital.

Season 6 will be the final season of Girls

The news comes a month after Dunham, 29, announced she was taking a break from press commitments due to endometriosis. "So many women with this disease literally don't have the option of time off and I won't take it for granted," she wrote on Facebook at the time.
