A mansion at the top of Los Angeles' famous Runyon Canyon may seem like a dream place to call home, but on Monday's episode of Law & Order: Los Angeles, it's also an ideal place for a criminal to hide out.

When a college co-ed is found strangled, the clues soon lead Detectives Morales (Alfred Molina) and Jaruszalski (Corey Stoll) to an abandoned mansion that boasts an amazing view of the city.

"It's this really weird juxtaposition that I think in a lot of ways typifies Los Angeles and the type of crimes that happen," Stoll says. "It's this combination of extravagant, flashy wealth and natural beauty ... and yet it's the most depraved squalor you can imagine."

For the episode, airing Monday at 10/9c on NBC, the crew shot on location in a mansion in the Runyon Canyon-area.  "It's a really potent location, and I think we capture it well," Stoll says.
