The family's going to look a bit different on Fox

Although I'm sure they wouldn't admit it, I bet tons of parents out there would love the chance to recast their children with newer and better ones. And while that's not an option for people in the real world, the Baxters of Last Man Standingare doing just that!

When the comedy returns this fall, the roles of Baxter daughter Mandy and grandson Boyd will no longer be played by Molly Ephraim and Flynn Morrison. Instead, Molly McCook and Jet Jurgensmeyer will take over the parts, Fox announced on Monday.

McCook is best known for her recurring role on The Ranch, and her other credits include Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Glee and the upcoming Fosters spin-off Good Trouble. Although young, Jurgensmeyer's relatively short career so far includes appearances on Will & Grace the animated film Ferdinand and apparently two music singles.

Fox announced that it was reviving Last Man Standing this spring, a full year after ABC canceled it in May of 2017. Due to the unexpected nature of the revival, the original actors who played Mandy and Boyd had already moved on to other projects and weren't able to return.

Last Man purists will probably bemoan the recastings, but seeing as they're lucky to even have another season of the sitcom, they should probably pick their battles because we're sure there will be tons to come.

Last Man Standing returns Friday, Sept. 8 at 8/7c on Fox.
