Life Unexpected star Kristoffer Polaha has signed a deal with CBS and CBS Studios in what may be the final nail in the coffin for the struggling CW drama, according to Deadline.

The 33-year-old was offered a deal with CBS — to headline a new project next fall — the day the CW opted not to pick up the back nine episodes of Life Unexpected, which is also produced by CBS Studios.

Life Unexpected won't get full season

The sophomore show drew 1.3 million viewers for its most recent new episode on Nov. 16. There are still four new episodes left to air.

Although the possibility remains that CW could pick up a third season in May, Polaha will most likely be cast in other new pilots and plays an integral role as the biological father of 16-year-old orphan Lux (Britt Robertson).

Before Life Unexpected, Polaha held a recurring role on Mad Men and starred on the short-lived series North Shore and Miss Guided.
