Game of Thronesended earlier this year, but now Kit Harington is headed to another mega-successful pop culture phenomenon. The Jon Snow actor has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The news, which was first reported by Deadline on Friday, was confirmed by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige on Saturday during a panel previewing the upcoming movie slate for Walt Disney Studios during D23 Expo 2019.

Every Marvel Movie Expected to Come Out After 2021, Including Blade

Harington is joining the cast of the upcoming film The Eternals alongside his former Game of Thrones cast mate Richard Madden. He will be playing a non-Eternal character named Dane Whitman, who, in the comics, is also known as the Black Knight. Canonically, Whitman's character is a descendant of a villain, who also bore the Black Knight name, but Dane Whitman took a nobler path, even becoming a member of the Avengers. In the comics, this character was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, so there's a chance Harington will have to lose that lovable accent of his for the role.

Other Game of Thrones actors to appear in the MCU include Peter Dinklage (Avengers: Infinity War) and Natalie Dormer (Captain America: The First Avenger).
