Kim Kardashian made a pretty ambitious New Year's resolution: She wants to be a pop star.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star surprised New Year's Eve clubgoers at TAO Las Vegas by taking the stage to announce that she is releasing a single, which was written by The Dream and is tentatively titled "Turn It Up." She then gave a preview of the song, which is a pretty standard track about the insufficient volume levels in nightclubs.

Kim Kardashian reveals cornrow hairdo

Prior to her performance, Kardashian tweeted, "2011 is all about trying new things and going for it! I'm starting mine w something fun and crazy! Sneak peaks [sic] coming soon!" She then tweeted two photos that appear to be from the set of her video — in one, she's wearing a white fur stole with her hair in cornrows (which explains the new 'do); in the other, she's wearing oversized glasses, bright red lipstick and matching tipped bangs. "I know u c me on the video...TRUE! I know you'll hear me on the radio..." she tweeted, alluding to the Notorious B.I.G. song "Crush On You."

I guess now we can't say she's famous for nothing anymore, right?

Check out the video below (though not the best quality), and weigh in on the song in the comments:
