Kerry Washington is developing a new drama for ABC.

According to Variety, the Scandal star is set to executive-produce Patrol, which will follow four female LAPD officers who attended the academy together and are forced to reconnect five years later, when a traumatic secret from their past resurfaces.

This won't mark the first time Washington is taking on a behind-the-scenes role. She recently executive-produced Confirmation, an HBO movie in which she also starred as Anita Hill, under the banner of her production company Simpson Street, which will also produce Patrol. Washington not only received an Emmy nomination for her role, but Confirmation also received a nomination for Outstanding Television Movie.

Washington is also expected to return as Olivia Pope on Scandal early next year. The traditionally fall show was pushed to midseason to accommodate the actress' real-life pregnancy, meaning the upcoming sixth season will consist of just 16 episodes rather than the typical 22.
