Kara DioGuardi Sued for $250,000 Over Car Accident

Kara DioGuardi is being sued for $250,000 over a car accident she wasn't even present for, TMZ reports.

Joel Postorino is suing the former American Idol judge after he claims he suffered serious neck injury when a BMW co-owned by DioGuardi hit the back of his car last May. He claims Christina Kline was driving the car at the time of the accident that caused him a slipped disc in his neck.

According to DioGuardi's rep, the songwriter only co-signed the car to help out Kline, a former employee. "When Ms. Kline left Kara's company in November 2009, she was asked to remove Kara's name from the registration, but never did," the rep told TMZ. "She was in a car accident in May 2010 that Kara did not know about until yesterday when she was served papers."

The case goes to court in July.

DioGuardi will release her first memoir, A Helluva High Note: Surviving Love, Life and American Idol, next week, and returns to TV this summer for the new songwriting competition series, Platinum Hit, on Bravo.
