Kanye West's Mother Dies After Surgical Procedure

Kanye West's mother, Donda, died unexpectedly Saturday night following a cosmetic procedure. She was 58. The family has not disclosed what procedure she was undergoing or the cause of death, and "respectfully asks for privacy during this time of grief."Donda was the inspiration for the song "Hey Mama" from Kanye's 2005 album Late Registration, and she was known to defend her son against the critics who accused him of writing misogynistic lyrics.
