Between Miley Cyrus hosting and Taylor Swift's new music video, the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards are already set to blow viewers away. MTV announced Tuesday that Kanye West will be awarded the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Considered the show's highest honor, the award has previously gone to Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Michael Jackson, himself. Beyoncé took home the award last year.

West is known for his creative music videos, including "Jesus Walks, " Heartless" and "Bound 2." He has also made his mark with impressive VMA performances, ranging from his debut performance of a medley of "Jesus Walks," "All Falls Down" and "Through The Wire" featuring Chaka Khan in 2004 to "Gold Digger," "Otis" and 2013's "Blood on the Leaves."

And of course, we all remember his 2009 stunt, going up on stage and interrupting Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video to say, "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you and I'mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!" His words became an instant meme, and he's never been able to live it down.

The VMAs air Sunday at 9/8c on MTV.

Do you think Kanye deserves the award? Should Swift get some payback and present it to him? And whatever happened to this:
