Justin Timberlake is denying reports that a quip he made during a performance over the weekend was a thinly veiled insult aimed at his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears.

During his performance at Saturday's Super Bowl DirecTV party, Timberlake introduced his song "Cry Me a River" by saying, "Sometimes in life, you think you found the one. But then one day you find out, that she is just some b----!" according to Hollywood Life. Timberlake is now married to Jessica Biel, but he and Spears dated for three years beginning in 1999. The song "Cry Me a River" is widely known to be about their relationship and her alleged infidelity.

But while many audience members assumed the description was a shot at Spears, Timberlake shot down the reports via Twitter.

"Ok. I see you. Wouldn't disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever. #Relax #ItsBritneyBitch I do love that saying though*with accent* #Respect ," Timberlake tweeted after the performance.
