Julian McMahon in a Nip/Tuck Shocker

We're only four weeks into Season 3 of FX's Nip/Tuck (Tuesdays at 10 pm/ET) and already Dr. Christian Troy has been slashed and raped by "the Carver," lost and regained his mojo, proposed to girlfriend Kimber and had a three-way and a four-way. If seems like there's nothing left to happen to, for or with the doc, you'd be guessing wrong, as his popular portrayer, Julian McMahon, recently revealed us. TV Guide: What else can possibly happen to Christian now? Julian McMahon: This week Christian is accused of being the Carver. TV Guide: By whom? McMahon: By the detective he's sleeping with.

McMahon:
By the detective he's sleeping with. I'm put in jail! And then she starts looking into my past. She brings in my mother [played by guest star Kathy Baker] to talk me into admitting that I am the Carver.

TV Guide: Didn't Christian think his parents were dead?
McMahon:
I had never seen or met her. And then I find out that my father raped her and several other women and is in prison. That's why Detective McGraw thinks I'm the same type of person, who is taking it to another level and becoming a serial killer.

TV Guide: That's big!
McMahon:
Enormous! Momentous!

TV Guide: As are all those sex scenes you do on the show. How many do you think you've done?
McMahon:
Goodness gracious me. How many episodes have we done? I've probably had about 50.

TV Guide: Is that some kind of record?
McMahon:
I'd say without a doubt I've had the most sex scenes in any television show, ever. Last season I did eight sex scenes in one day — I haven't topped that yet. But [Nip/Tuck producer] Lyn Greene said that some really out-of-control stuff is about to happen in the next couple of episodes. I'm looking forward to it. [Wicked grin]

TV Guide: Do you have a special technique?
McMahon:
Yes, I'm going to write the bible. I'm calling it "The McMahon Technique for Sex Scenes." [Laughs] You know, I don't think there is. In all truth, the most important thing for me is to make the sex scenes make sense with the story and what the character is going through. And to make sure that the person I'm with is relaxed enough to perform whatever we need to do.

TV Guide: Very gentlemanly! How does playing such a sexy beast spill over into your personal life?
McMahon:
It's freaky how many women know you. They're very willing to come up and do whatever they feel is necessary.

TV Guide: Such as?
McMahon:
I've had people just come up and grab me.... [Casts his eyes down toward his lap, looks back up and chuckles] People think I am this horny Christian Troy character, just standing around trying to get laid every five seconds.

TV Guide: Well, are you? Do you date a lot? Do you have a girlfriend?
McMahon:
No, I don't have a girlfriend and I don't date a lot. I know, it's like, how sad is that? But the only spare time I have is devoted to my daughter [Madison, with ex-wife Brooke Burns]. She just started kindergarten.

TV Guide: What else do you do when you're not being Christian Troy?
McMahon:
I cook, garden, surf, hang out with my friends, go on road trips and grow lots of vegetables and fruits and herbs. To me that is totally cathartic and therapeutic.

TV Guide: Because the show gets heavy, huh?
McMahon:
Heavy and tough. I drive home sometimes thinking I don't know how I can get through it, it's so taxing.

TV Guide: Do you like Christian?
McMahon
: I've gone through different evolutions where I've enjoyed being him and thinking, "Oh, everyone thinks I'm a cad," and then I went through something where I was like, "Well, I don't want to be that guy. I don't like that guy." But there's some parts to this character that I absolutely adore. I love the complexity. I like the more bizarre stuff. [Big smile] I want him to go darker.

TV Guide: OK, one more question. Do you have your eyebrows tweezed or waxed?
McMahon:
No, they're just naturally beautiful.
