Joseph Morgan has a new TV role to sink his teeth into.

TVLine reports that Morgan, who previously starred as Klaus Mikaelson in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, is joining TNT's Animal Kingdomas Jed, the potentially unhinged brother of Colin (Grant Harvey) in the show's late '70s flashbacks. Jed is described as an unstable man who has "rejected mainstream society" and instead lives "in isolation on a rural compound with his beleaguered wife and three children." His first appearance in the recurring role will occur in Episode 9, titled "SHTF," which airs on Tuesday, July 23.

This will mark Morgan's first return to the small screen since The Originals' gutting finale aired last August, but the actor has several other projects coming up. He will also appear in USA Network's adaptation of Aldous Huxley's classic dystopian novel Brave New World as CJack60, a role he described as "really different and intense" for him.

Morgan was also attached to the pilot adaptation of Dennis Lehane's Gone Baby Gone for Fox in 2018, but the network ultimately passed on the would-be series.

Animal Kingdom airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on TNT.
