Kate Gosselin of TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8 says her husband's "irresponsible behavior" has created "added tension and stress" between the couple — and that coverage of Jon Gosselin's behavior hasn't helped either.
"It's disturbing and unfortunate that these tabloids have gone as far as they have to try and bring us down," Kate told Entertainment Weekly. "Jon's poor judgment and irresponsible behavior has also, without a doubt, caused some added tension and stress between the two of us."
Jon Gosselin, who was recently photographed leaving a bar with a female companion, and who was earlier photographed with two college-aged women, says the coverage is "really upsetting."

"It hurts me to see what it's done to my family, and it's scary to know that these tabloids are in town constantly following us and even paying locals large amounts of money to contribute to these negative stories," he said. "I may be guilty of choosing the wrong time and place to hang out with my friends, but I am not guilty of cheating on my wife."
In light of the media frenzy, the 32-year-old father admits he is "hesitant to take photos with fans" and be out in the public eye.
"We still want to live normal lives. We want our kids to have opportunities that we didn't have growing up, which is why we participated in the show in the first place," he added. "But of course it makes us think twice about how we spend our time in public."
Kate also said the "very public focus on our family and the stress it's caused" will be addressed in the upcoming season of the show, premiering May 25.
"We are not concerned about the ratings right now," she added. "Our main focus is on our family and working through this."
Sixty percent of participants in a TVGuide.com poll said they want the fallout over the photographs of Jon Gosselin to be addressed in the new season.
