JoAnna Garcia has been cast as the new female lead in NBC's new comedy Animal Practice, TVLine reports.

Animal Practice stars Weeds' Justin Kirk as George, a veterinarian who loves animals but despises their owners. The Reba and Better with You alum will play Dorothy, George's ex-girlfriend and his current boss at the animal hospital. "So excited 2 be joining the cast of NBC's #AnimalPractice," she tweeted Thursday. "Job filled w amazingly talented people & endless amounts of animals #Heaven!"

Garcia, 32, replaces Amy Huberman, who appeared in the original pilot and was let go for creative reasons.

Garcia most recently played a different kind of doctor — a kidney specialist — on Royal Pains last season. She also starred in Greg Berlanti and Greg Malins' untitled comedy pilot for CBS, which was not picked up.

Animal Practice will air Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC beginning this fall.

Do you think Garcia will be a good match for Kirk? Are you excited to see her back on the small screen?
