On Sunday, President Trump turned his ire on Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, who in a recent interview expressed regret for tousling the then-candidate's hair on his show in 2016.

"@jimmyfallon is now whimpering to all that he did the famous 'hair show' with me (where he seriously messed up my hair), & that he would have now done it differently because it is said to have 'humanized' me-he is taking heat," Trump tweeted. "He called & said 'monster ratings.' Be a man Jimmy!"

In immediate response, Fallon made a donation in Trump's name to RAICES, an organization providing legal and educational support to refugees and immigrants and that is on the frontline at the border, helping the people the Trump administration is persecuting.

But during Monday's Tonight Show, Fallon gave a more in-depth response to the President. "Before we begin, I just wanna give a shout out to our show's number one fan -- the President of the United States," Fallon said. "As you may have heard, last night, the President of the United States went after me on Twitter. So Melania, if you're watching, I don't think your anti-bullying campaign is working."

"When I saw that Trump insulted me on Twitter, I was gonna tweet back immediately, but I thought, 'I have more important things to do,'" he continued. "Then I thought, 'Wait - shouldn't HE have more important things to do?' He's the President! What are you doing? Why are you tweeting at me?!"

Is this enough for us to forgive Fallon for the "hair show?" I don't know. But he is genuinely very sorry, and, y'know, it's not Jimmy Fallon's fault that Trump got elected.

The Tonight Show airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on NBC.
