Bazinga all the way! The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons will provide the voice of Buddy the Elf in NBC's upcoming stop-motion animated holiday special Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas, the network announced Friday.
Parsons, who's won four Emmys for his portrayal of Sheldon Cooper on the hit CBS comedy, is the latest actor to portray the optimistic (and tall) elf following Will Ferrell in the 2003 film Elf and a trio of Broadway stars in the subsequent stage production Elf: The Musical.
In the NBC special, which the network says will be an "all-new retelling" of Buddy's story from both the movie and the musical, Santa will narrate Buddy's journey from the North Pole to New York City as he sets out to meet the father he never knew he had. The voice cast also includesMark Hamill, Ed Asner, Fred Armisen, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Gilbert Gottfried, Kate Micucci,Rachael MacFarlane, Max Charles and Steve Higgins.
Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas will air Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 8/7c.
