Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr Is Boarding The Orville for Season 2

Jessica Szohr, best known for playing Vanessa Abrams on the CW's teen drama Gossip Girl, is joining the cast of Fox's sci-fi dramedy The Orville in Season 2, Deadline reports.

Details about the Orville crew member Szohr will be playing are being kept under wraps, but as TVLine observes, she'll probably further complicate Captain Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) and Commander Kelly Grayson's (Adrienne Palicki) already extremely complicated relationship.

Szohr recently had a major recurring role on Season 8 of Shameless as Nessa, Fiona Gallagher's (Emmy Rossum) tenant and friend. She's also appeared on Twin Peaks and Kingdom. She's worked with The Orville creator Seth MacFarlane before, appearing in his movie Ted 2. But to some fans she'll always be Vanessa Abrams, Dan Humphrey's (Penn Badgley) hipster on-again/off-again girlfriend on Gossip Girl.

The Orville returns later this year with a bigger Season 2.
