Jessica Lowndes and Jon Lovitz's Engagement, Explained

UPDATE:Jessica Lowndes has confirmed that her rumored engagement to Saturday Night Livealum Jon Lovitz is an April Fool's joke. The 90210 actress posted a video on Instagram confirming the hoax after a weekend of leading people to believe that she and Lovitz were engaged.

The posts were an elaborate stunt to help promote Lowndes' new single "Deja Vu." The video for the new song features Lovitz getting some raunchy treatment from Lowndes before revealing he's having a coma dream in the hospital.

The actress and comedian have known each other since last year when they both appeared on Hawaii Five-0. They've even been spotted spending their down time together at a pool playfully taking photos of each other.

Their documented friendship helped fuel rumors that they were dating when they started posing suggestive photos on social media over the weekend. Aaron Paul's ex-girlfriend teased "the romance" with word play, heart-eyed videos and even laughed off accusations that she had a sugar daddy.

Lowndes then shared a photo of a massive engagement ring (conveniently uncaptioned), throwing the rumor mill into overdrive.

This photo was followed up by a video of Lovitz filming Lowndes rolling around in bed.

However, many fans still weren't buying the romance between the pair. "I know what a bed that has been screwed in looks like," one Instagram user, soupor_sam, wrote. "FUN FACT. The creases from the packaging aren't still on the sheets."

The conspiracy wasn't helped by the fact that a photo Lovitz posted claiming to be spending Easter with Lowndes was seemingly taken days prior.
